Ground Maintenance – Logic Manufacturing
Weed whacking on a large scale needs a completely different approach to the average garden strimmer and a spray-can of herbicide from the local DIY store! And when you’re dealing with bracken, you need something much more ‘hands on’. That’s exactly what Logic Manufacturing were looking for when they approached Cottam, who were able to collaborate with Logic Manufacturing to create a bespoke solution to a tricky problem.
The challenge was to come up with a brush that did not just one, but two distinct jobs. Firstly, it had to scratch the weeds so that they were loosened and weakened physically, and then the same brush had to apply a systemic weed killer directly and accurately to the leaves so as not to affect any surrounding plants.
Cottam developed a brush that delivered a two-part solution, incorporating different materials into the brush to achieve the desired effect. “Not only did the client like the way the brush did exactly what they wanted it to do, but they also liked the durability too,” says Cottam consultant Nigel Hutchinson. “The customer’s clients loved the effectiveness of the brush as well, so everyone was happy with the result. They felt that the brush had actually improved their own product, which is a real testament to the development process.”
Proving that collaboration can result in a whole new direction for a customer, The Logic Manufacturing response has been hugely positive. David Brotherton, from Logic Manufacturing, sums it up: “Cottam provide professional, quality products often working within tight time constraints to meet seasonal demand changes. We receive excellent service in all aspects of our dealings with the company, and continue to innovate and develop new ideas with their team.”
