Nancy is General Manager of our China operations and has worked for Cottam for over 10 years.
- Describe your role at Cottam
I am General Manager of Cottam’s China operations. I have worked for Cottam for nearly 10 years and my responsibility is overseeing our China branch and maintaining good relationships with our Chinese supplier base. It’s my job to make sure that our products are delivered to the UK on time and in good quality.
- What do you like about working at Cottam?
Cottam has a great team – my colleagues are friendly and we always help each other. We have a culture of listening and learning. I love our team.
The company’s policies and plans are open and transparent. I can plan my future career and grow continuously in line with the company’s long-term plans.
I am respected and trusted here, and I can contribute my thoughts and ideas freely. I feel a sense of belonging and solidarity even in far-away China.
- What skills do you bring to the Cottam team?
My knowledge and experience of purchasing and project management helps me identify the best suppliers and manage my projects in a logical way.
If any issues come up with our suppliers, I’m also able to use my communication skills to solve the problem quickly so they don’t affect our UK operations or our customers.
- What is your favourite place to visit?
I want to go to No Man’s Zone in Tibet. The scenery is amazing, and I enjoy spending time by myself surrounded by nature.
- Tell me about your favourite ever holiday
My favourite ever holiday was in Vietnam with my family. We enjoyed the beautiful beach with cocktails, beers, and soft drinks while my sons swam in the sea with their dad. We also explored the nature and countryside. We even took a cable car for over 20 minutes to the top of the Bana Hills where we met a painter who paints nature scenes. I was able to buy some paintings and take them home – a great souvenir!
- If you could give your past-self advice, what would it be?
I’d like to say “Hey, girl! Just listen to your heart and try not to worry too much. Spend more time with your family and friends creating good memories. Do more exercise and keep it as a habit. Also, read more books that touch your heart and make you think. Good Luck!”
