Rapid Lock Challenge
With the Rapid Lock Challenge we set out to prove just how simple the Rapid Lock System is for end users to assemble at the point of use. Traditional methods of connecting brush heads and handles involved the use of power tools and often required the user to shave the handle down with a knife so that it fit in the staff hole.
The Cottam Rapid Lock System (RLS) has changed all this. No longer does the task of assembling a broom require a risk assessment!
At the RS Connect event on Tuesday 20th November, 58 sales people showed just how easy the Rapid Lock is to use. A huge well done to Key Account Manager, Neil Makinson, who swept the competition aside and recorded a record breaking (and prize winning) time of just 2.8 seconds! The previous record of 8.7 seconds (held by Gary Morris of RC Fasteners in Bristol) was well and truly smashed.
It would be fair to say that the Rapid Lock System has been a much needed innovation in the brush market. Not only does the end user save time on assembly, but distributors can achieve a double benefit by saving cost on both storage and transportation. Assembled brushes are notoriously difficult to transport being bulky and all too easy to damage. With Rapid Lock, the brush heads and handles are stored and transported separately; and then, as the RS team showed, they can be put together in seconds.
