Getting to know..... Kathy Bevan
What do you do at Cottam?
I am the Sales Director, working across our divisions and responsible for developing and leading on sales and marketing strategy. I have a great team of committed and enthusiastic people working with me and I enjoy the variety and challenges of my role.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of the way our Cottam brand is building. We’ve gone from virtually anonymous to a recognised brand in the space of about 2 years. Its hard work and a relatively new field for me personally, but we’re constantly experimenting with new ways to do things and that’s always an exciting position to be in.
Who or what inspires you?
I’m always inspired by stories people who overcome the odds to succeed in their chosen field and people who don't give up. I believe it’s possible to take inspiration from great leaders as well as the people we come into contact with every single day.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I love spending time with my family and friends. My husband Nick and I have two utterly gorgeous children and as a family we enjoy caravanning (yes we’re the folks who block the roads every bank holiday) and doing different activities together. I’m a trainee Local Preacher in the Methodist Church which means I regularly lead worship in Churches around the local area while completing a 5 year course of study. I enjoy singing in choirs and treading the boards with a local Am Dram society when time allows.
What is your favourite Cottam product and why?
I have so many, I can literally bore people for hours about brushes! I have always liked our heavy duty natural fibre yard brooms because of the noise they make in use. It reminds me of being a child and hearing my Grandma wash and brush her yard when I was younger. I also like the many and varied technical products we make, from the bendy brushes for river beds through to the ones that cows scratch their bottoms on – there are some amazing uses for brushes!
